Welcome to Go Overboard
Go Overboard (formerly Albania Overboard) is a UK-registered charity that brings people together through open-water swim challenges to raise funds for marine conservation.
Founded in 2014 by Nick Cookson and Nick Lemis, two UK-based friends with strong family ties to Corfu, Go Overboard was created to enable visitors and locals to raise funds for charitable initiatives through a sea swim challenge.
The first swim from Albania to Corfu took place in 2014 with a small but determined group of nine swimmers. In 2024, the same event sold out with over 100 participants and was covered by the BBC.
In 11 years and seven swims, Go Overboard has raised over €200,000 for the Ionian Environment Foundation and charitable projects operating across the Ionian Islands, supporting vital marine conservation work.
We are excited about the next chapter of Go Overboard. Following our expansion and new name, we are developing new swim routes in exciting locations and preparing for the Global Swim Challenge, continuing to grow our community and charitable impact worldwide.

- In 2024, we celebrated a decade of swimming for impact — and our most successful year to date.
Over 11 years, we have raised more than €200,000 for marine conservation and community projects across the Ionian Islands.
- In 2024 alone, we raised €50,000, with swimmers and supporters pushing our mission further than ever before.
A Record-Breaking YearS
- In 2024 over 100 swimmers crossed the Albania–Corfu Channel – our first turnout this big.
- We surpassed 200% of our JustGiving fundraising goal.
- 468 contributors joined our efforts to protect marine ecosystems and support local communities.
- In 2025 we sold out 100 slots in a week.
Real Impact in Action
Supported the running of marine conservation projects through the IEF.
Contributed to the protection of monk seals, supported the Ionian Dolphin Project, Posidonia seagrass protection, sustainable sailing initiatives, and ecological education in remote Ionian schools.
Raised €7,600 through our first-ever Charity Art Auction.
