Welcome to Go Overboard
(formerly Albania Overboard)
Founded in 2014 by Nick Cookson and Nick Lemis, two UK-based friends with strong family ties to Corfu, Go Overboard (formerly Albania Overboard) was created to allow for visitors and locals to raise funds to support local charitable initiatives through a swim challenge.
The first Go Overboard swim from Albania to Corfu was completed in 2014 by a small but determined group of nine. In 2024, the same event sold out with over 100 swimmers and was covered by the BBC.
In 10 years and six swims, Go Overboard has raised €160,000 for Conservation Collective’s and the Ionian Environmental Foundation’s marine conservation projects in the Ionian Islands.
We are excited for the changes happening in 2025 with our new name to celebrate our expansion to new swims in new areas of the world and the launch our first ever Go Overboard Global Swim Challenge.

- Over the past 10 years, we’ve raised more than €160,000 for environmental and community causes across Corfu and beyond.
- In 2024 alone, we raised €50,000, with swimmers and supporters pushing our mission further than ever before.
2024: A Record-Breaking Year
- Over 100 swimmers crossed the Albania–Corfu Channel — our biggest turnout yet.
- We surpassed 200% of our JustGiving fundraising goal.
- 468 contributors joined our efforts to protect marine ecosystems and support local communities.
Real Impact in Action
- Funded marine conservation projects through the Ionian Environment Foundation.
- Raised €7,600 through our first-ever Charity Art Auction.
- Donated €3,000 to support an orphanage in Corfu Town.
